Tunica-Biloxi Tribe opens new cultural and education facility

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana opened its Cultural and Educational Resources Center on Wednesday.

The 40,000-square-foot facility houses a museum with the largest collection of European and Native American artifacts from the Colonial period, according to the tribe. There's also a gift shop, offices, library, restoration/conservation laboratory, exhibit hall, classrooms, auditorium, video/audio conference rooms and computer lab.

"We are known for our casino here, but we also want people to also think about education when they come to Marksville," Earl Barbry Jr., the center's director, told The Alexandria Town Talk.

Northwestern State University will offer classes at the facility starting next year.
