Oneida Nation reminds public of ban on concealed weapons

The Oneida Nation is reminding the public that concealed weapons are still illegal on the reservation despite a new Wisconsin state law.

The tribe has posted signs and notices and has provided additional training to staff and employees. Concealed weapons are banned at public buildings on the reservation and during events.

"Oneida has its own rules, regulations, and policies, but we do have an ordinance and a resolution and a policy on concealed carry issue," Treasurer Cristina Danforth told WBAY-TV.

The Concealed Carry Law, which went into effect on November 1, allows Wisconsin citizens to carry concealed weapons with a permit.
