Members of the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado went to the polls twice last week but only one race was decided.
The tribe held a special election for vice chairman on November 1. Howard D. Richards Sr., a former chairman, won the seat.
The tribe also went to the polls on November 4 to vote for the chairman's post and two council seats. However, no candidate received a majority of the vote.
That means incumbent chair Pearl E. Casias and Jimmy R. Newton Jr., who was the vice chairman, will face each other in a run-off.
And the top four candidates for the two council seats will compete again.
