Mescalero Apache Nation president loses bid for re-election





The Mescalero Apache Nation of New Mexico elected a new president on Tuesday.

Incumbent Mark Chino lost to Frederick Chino Sr., a former vice president. The tally was 647 for Frederick Chino and 455 for Mark Chino.

Sandra Platero easily won re-election as vice president. She defeated Vincent Hubbard Sr. by a tally of 784 to 467.

Four council members were elected, with three incumbents losing their seats.
