Crow Tribe still trying to line up investors for coal project

The Crow Tribe of Montana is seeking investors to finance coal-to-liquids plant on the reservation.

The tribe entered into an agreement with Australian-American Energy Co. to build the $7 billion facility. But the company was having trouble raising money for the project, which has been controversial among individual Indian landowners on the reservation.

As part of a settlement, Australian-American agreed to help the tribe find new partners. Bids are due by December 1, The International Herald Tribune reported.
