Omaha man aims to inspire youth with reservation boxing club

Dwight Howe, a member of the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, has opened a new boxing club on the reservation.

Howe learned to box from the late Harold Bigfire, who was a member of the Winnebago Tribe. He wants to pass on his knowledge to a new generation and keep them off drugs and alcohol.

"We want them to be winners in life, not just the ring," Howe told The Sioux City Journal.

The club's only been open a little over a month and has generated strong interest. So far, 19 boxers have signed up and Howe plans to start competing in November.
