Editorial: Change school liquor policy to follow Navajo Nation law

"Central Consolidated School District continues to be a daily headline with its administrative chaos, including a revolving door of administrators giving orders of radical change, the state having to step in and regulate who is in charge of what, and strong divisions between parents, faculty and administration.

School board president Matthew Tso continues to face a legal battle after being arrested in July for public intoxication in Shiprock.

So, as timing would have it, the board heard a proposed policy change last week that suggests a change to the district's policy of allowing alcohol in residential housing managed by CCSD.

Not much is clear when it comes to CCSD's way of doing things lately, but it would seem logical that this policy be changed to reflect Navajo Nation tribal law, which clearly states that alcohol on the Nation is prohibited in any form."
