Tom Strickland
, the former chief of staff to Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, has joined the law firm that is defending
BP
over the 2010
Deepwater Horizon oil spill
in the Gulf of Mexico.
Strickland says he won't be working with BP or the oil spil at
WilmerHale
. He also will abide by a "cooling off" period that prevents him from lobbying the
Interior Department
on issues he worked on.
Strickland served as chief of staff from May 2009 until February 2011.
