Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe disputes jump in 911 service costs

The
Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe of Washington will see a big increase in its bill for 911 dispatching services under a new fee structure.
The tribe paid around $14,000 a year to
Kitsap County Central Communications based on its population size and assessed property value. The tribe has 2,300 members.
But CenCom approved a new structure that's based on a pay-per-call rate. The minimum fee comes to $50,000 per year.
"We don't think a 300 percent hike is reasonable," Chairman Jeromy Sullivan told The Kitsap Sun.
The tribe owes $42,000 to CenCom and is working on a repayment agreement.
