A bill to award the
Congressional Gold Medal
to Elouise Cobell, the lead plaintiff in the
Indian trust fund case
, has gained a few more supporters.
Sen. Harry Reid
(D-Nevada), the
Senate majority leader
, is co-sponsoring
S.1514
. The bill now has seven supporters, all Democrats.
“Elouise Cobell’s hard work has immeasurably improved the lives of many American Indians, including thousands living in Nevada,” Reid said in a
press release
. “I’m honored to recommend her for the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of her outstanding and enduring contributions and her tireless pursuit of justice.”
