Federal prosecutors are seeking a lengthy sentence for Kevin Ring, an associate of convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

After two trials, Ring was convicted of five felony counts. Prosecutors said he showered gifts on Congressional aides and Bush administration officials in hopes of benefiting his tribal clients, including the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

Since he refused to cooperate, prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 17 to 22 years. Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle raised concerns about the recommendation, which would exceed the time served by all 20 other defendants combined, the Associated Press reported.

Ring is due to be sentenced October 26.
