Microsoft apologizes for unauthorized use of Tulalip Tribes name

Technology giant Microsoft apologized to the Tulalip Tribes of Washington for using their name without authorization.

The tribe met with Microsoft to find out why "Tulalip" was used on Socl.com, a social networking site that is apparently under development at the company.

"This internal code name will not be used in connection with this research project going forward. We apologize to the Tulalip Tribes for this situation," Microsoft said in a statement.

The tribe also issued its own statement. "We appreciate Microsoft's swift corrective action, and we consider this matter resolved. We have a good relationship with Microsoft and expect that relationship to continue," the tribe said.
