Interior Secretary Ken Salazar is seeking nominations for the new Commission on Indian Trust Administration and Reform.

The commission was created as part of the $3.4 billion settlement to the Cobell trust fund lawsuit. It will consist of five members with experience in trust management, Indian trust issues and federal agency operations and budget.

"This Commission will play a critical role in our forward-looking, comprehensive evaluation of how Interior manages and administers our trust responsibilities to the First Americans,” Salazar said in a press release. “I look forward to working with the Commission as we move forward on President Obama's commitment to reconciliation and empowerment for American Indian nations.”

Nominations are open for the next 30 days.
