Posted: Tuesday, June 28, 2011
The
White House has created a new section on its website to promote Indian issues within the Obama administration.
The section is called
Winning the Future: President Obama and the Native American Community. Right now, it features posts and video from White House staff and other federal agencies.
"At a recent White House listening session, tribal leaders asked for a centralized list of offices within the federal government that were responsible for serving Indian Country and upholding the federal trust responsibility," Charles Galbraith, a member of the
Navajo Nation who serves as associate director in the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement. "Accordingly, the new White House webpage contains a Resources Tab designed to be a toolkit for tribal leaders that brings together over 25 different agencies and departments into one, navigable location."
