The
Nisqually Tribe of Washington has started work on a $20 million public safety complex but nearby residents say they weren't told about the project.
The Nisqually Safety Complex includes a detention center with space for 288 inmates. It will also house the tribal police, six residential buildings, a warehouse, a courthouse and a fire station.
The project has been publicized in Washington media outlets for several months. Yet residents say they just found out about it.
“A lot of this wouldn’t have been necessary if they had shown a little respect and gone public with it,” Greg Patterson told The Tacoma News-Tribune.
