Leslie Standing wins re-election as Wichita Tribe president

Members of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes of Oklahoma re-elected Leslie Standing as president.
Standing received nearly 55 percent of the vote in a special election on Saturday.. He defeated three other candidates for the job.
“When I was elected President of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes in 2008,
I promised to make tribal government open and accountable to all tribal
members," Standing said. "Change is never easy. However, the citizens of the Wichita Tribe confirmed their desire to have a government that is open, respectful and accountable to all members.”
Standing was the target of a recall. He vowed to put the past behind him and focus on economic development, health care and a more open government.
