Fort Peck Tribes asks about 40 families to evacuate homes

The Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of Montana asked about 40 families to evacuate their homes due to a flooding threat.

Most of the homes are located in low-lying areas of the Missouri and Milk rivers. The area is expected to be under 8 feet of water by tomorrow.

"They need to get out now. By Friday it might be too late," Rev. Steve Smith, who is helping people move, told The Great Falls Tribune.

But Chris Headdress, the disaster and emergency Services Coordinator for the tribe, said some families have refused to leave.
