Two council members for the
Cayuga Nation of New York were forced to resign amid complaints about how the tribe's affairs are being handled.
Tribal members accused Tim Twoguns and Gary Wheeler of making decisions on their own. They said Twoguns and Wheeler hired family members for tribal businesses.
A third council member, Clint Halftown, who acts as the tribe's federal representative, was also the target of complaints. But he was not forced out.
The tribe has four matriarchal-based clans. Each clan names two members to the council.
