Stacy Leeds, a member of the Cherokee Nation, has been named dean at the University of Arkansas School of Law.
Leeds is the first American Indian woman to serve as dean at a law school in the U.S. She has extensive experience in Indian law, property law and natural resource law, and she has served on the Cherokee Nation Supreme Court.
“I am truly honored to join the University of Arkansas family at this moment in the life of the law school,” Leeds said in a press release.
Kevin Washburn, a member of the Chickasaw Nation, serves as dean at the University of New Mexico School of Law.
