Federal authorities have indicted 46 people in connection with a drug smuggling ring on the
Tohono O'odham Nation
of Arizona.
Authorities say Mexican drug cartels used the reservation to bring drugs into the United States. The
Drug Enforcement Administration
seized 10,000 pounds of marijuana from the smugglers and can prove they moved at least 28,000 more pounds, a spokesperson said.
Of the 46 who were indicted, 13 are members of the tribe.
