Tulalip chairman delivers annual State of the Tribes address

Mel Sheldon, the chairman of the
Tulalip Tribes of Washington, delivered the annual State of the Tribes address. on April 29.
Sheldon cited the tribe's economic impact, including the 4,528 employees who work at the
Quil Ceda Village, a mixed-use development. The tribe operates a successful casino and is building a $10 million museum.
“People say we’re a rich tribe,” Sheldon said, The Marysville Globe Reporter reported. “We’re rich in culture, and we’ve got a great location here on I-5, but we reinvest just about everything we make into our membership.”
