A member of the Southern Ute Tribe of Colorado was sentenced to 37 months after pleading guilty to an assault charge and a firearms charge.

Henry Elkriver Whiteskunk, 21, admitted that he entered a home on the reservation with a sawed-off shotgun. He pointed the gun at two people and threatened to kill one of them.

Tribal police responded to the scene and ordered Whiteskunk to drop the weapon. He pointed it in the direction of two officers before fleeing.

Whiteskunk will serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
