Oneida Nation making history with its first primary election

The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin will hold its first primary election in history this Saturday.

In the past, the tribe held one election for council and other positions. That usually led to dozens of candidates running for just a few spots.

But this year, tribal members will narrow down the field for four officer positions and five at-large council positions. The general election takes place July 16.
