A member of the
Hopi Tribe of Arizona is being accused of stealing from one of the tribe's businesses.
Gary Yoyokie was an employee of the
Hopi Cultural Center. Federal authorities say he embezzled $40,000 from the business.
“This defendant was employed and trusted by the Hopi Tribe to help provide economic opportunities for his people. Instead, he violated that trust in a scheme to enrich himself,” U.S. Attorney Dennis K. Burke said in a
press release. “We and our partners at the FBI will continue to prosecute public corruption and self-dealing at any level of government.”
