Tsi Akim Maidu Tribe ready for opening of cultural center

The
Tsi Akim Tribe of California is hosting a grand opening for its language and cultural center this Saturday.
The tribe will use the center to educate the public about Maidu culture.
Ferrall Cunningham, one of the few people fluent in Maidu, will teach languages classes and there will be a lending library of books.
The tribe also plans to sell baskets, jewelry and art.
The tribe lacks federal recognition.
