Swiss woman makes a home on the Pine Ridge Reservation

Isabel Stadnick, a Swiss woman who was born in Brazil, now makes her home on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.

Stadnick first visited the reservation in 1989. She ended up marrying her tour guide, Robert Stadnick, who was a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

The couple had three children -- known to locals as the "Swindians" -- and opened the Lakota Waldorf School before Robert's death in 1997. Isabel and the kids moved to Switzerland for a few years but came back to the reservation in 2008 for good.

"I love Switzerland but right here, this is my home," Isabel Stadnick told Swissinfo.ch.
