Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-South Dakota) says no one questioned ties between food and voting until it happened on reservations.
Herseth Sandlin attended Democratic rallies on the Pine Ridge
Reservation, the Lower Brule
Sioux Reservation and the Crow Creek Sioux
Reservation. Food was offered and tribal members were encouraged to participate in early voting and the Congresswoman said that's happened elsewhere in the state too.
"I think it stokes racial tensions," Herseth Sandlin told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader of a complaint that the South Dakota Republican
Party filed against the tribal events.
Attorney General Marty Jackley said he is investigating the complaint.
