A 19-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Gerald Dumas, who was Metis.
Dumas, 47, died on Monday from injuries he suffered after being set on fire.
Gaston Leroy Genaille is accused of attacking Dumas in an alley in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on September 10.
Gerald Dumas was the uncle of Matthew Dumas, the 18-year-old who was shot and killed by a Winnipeg officer in February 2005.
Another family member was killed in the city a year later.
