The Bureau of Indian Affairs will
take 40 acres in trust for the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior
Chippewa in Minnesota, according to a notice published in The Cloquet Pine
Journal.
The land is located in St.
Louis County. Officials there recently dropped their long-standing
opposition to the tribe's land-into-trust efforts.
The BIA says the land will be taken into trust after 30 days. The notice does
not appear to have been published in the Federal
Register.
