A law enforcement agreement between Blackfeet Nation and Glacier County discriminated against five white deputies, the Montana Human Rights Bureau said.
The agreement called for nine Indian deputies and two other deputies to be commissioned with the tribe. The five who were left out said they were the victims of discrimination based on their race.
"We're happy that they basically found in our favor," Undersheriff Jeff Fauque told The Great Falls Tribune. "We want to bring this to a conclusion, but we want to make sure justice is done here too."
The county scrapped the agreement after it was announced due to concerns about public notice.
