Alaska Native corporations are "trying to buy the election" for the U.S. Senate, Republican candidate Joe Millersays.

Through an independent expenditure group called Alaskans Standing Together, Native corporations have raised $805,000. The money is going to to support Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R), a write-in candidate.

"This is business as usual for the corporations and for Senator Murkowski," Miller said in a statement. "She has opposed changes to the disadvantaged business program and she is getting 'rewarded' for that opposition."

Miller, an attorney who has the backing of the Tea Party movement, also has received donations from corporate entities. "Who are these people?" Jason Moore, a spokesman for Alaskans Standing Together, told The Anchorage Daily News. "At least we've identified who we are. Everyone knows these corporations and the areas they represent here in Alaska.

Since joining the Senate, Murkowski has become a strong advocate for law enforcement, health care and other needs in rural Alaska Native villages. She also has defended Alaska Native corporations from attacks on their government contracts but Miller says reform is needed in the program.
