The Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana is waiting for President Barack Obama to declare a disaster on the Rocky Boy's Reservation.

Flooding and heavy rains caused at least $6 million in damages, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Hundreds remain without safe drinking water and the Rocky Boy Health Care Center, the only clinic on the reservation, has been shut down.

"It's just too unsafe to let anybody in there," tribal spokesperson Neal Rosette told The Great Falls Tribune of the $12 million facility.

The Indian Health Service says it will provide $1.1 million to pay for tribal members who have had to seek care off the reservation. The tribe plans to reopen a former clinic.
