Richard Marshall, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota, is set to go to trial in federal court this week for the murder of American Indian Movement activist Anna Mae Pictou Aquash.
Marshall, 58, is accused of supplying the gun that was used to kill Aquash on the Pine Ridge Reservation in December 1975. He has pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting Aquash's murder.
Marshall has been awaiting trial for more than a year. He was indicted at the same time as John Graham, a Native man from Canada, but the charges against Graham were thrown out because he isn't a member of a federally recognized tribe.
Jury selection is expected to start Wednesday.
