The Bureau of Indian Affairs, will hold the final consultation session on the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Carcieri v. Salazar this Wednesday.

The session takes place from 1:30pm to 4:30pm at the Sheraton National Resort and Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Assistant secretary Larry EchoHawk and Solicitor Hilary Tompkins are expected to attend.

The Supreme Court decision restricts the land-into-trust process to tribes that were "under federal jurisdiction" in 1934. The Obama administration in response said it supports the right of all "all" tribes to follow the process.

According to Gambling Compliance, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has asked EchoHawk and Tompkins to take quick action on the issue."If the last consultation is July 8, then he expects something to be done by July 9," EchoHawk told tribal leaders in Minnesota, Gambling Compliance reported last week.
