Alaska's failed attorney general nominee signed a letter opposing a fix to the U.S. Supreme Court
decision in Carcieri
v. Salazar.
Wayne Anthony Ross was one of 17 attorneys general who signed the April 24 letter to the Senate Indian Affairs Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee. But by that time, he had already been rejected by state lawmakers, who questioned his record on sovereignty, subsistence and other Native issues.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs has refused to act on land-into-trust applications for Alaska's tribes, except for one.
