Six Navajo Nation Council delegates are on a motorcycle ride to Washington, D.C., to lobby for veterans issues.

The delegates left Window Rock, Arizona, the capital of the Navajo Nation, on Sunday. They are due to arrive in Washington today and they plan to meet with key lawmakers to seek better health care, more funding and other services for tribal veterans.

"It frustrates the Navajo Nation when the implementation of any legislation enacted by Congress doesn't benefit the Navajo people to the extent that we would like to see it," delegate LoRenzo Bates said in a press release quoted by The Farmington Daily Times. "I'm hoping this trip will relieve the frustration that we have as Navajos in terms of getting those benefits and opportunities to our people."

The delegates also will attend Memorial Day ceremonies in Washington.
