A resolution that asks the U.S. Congress to repeal an 1863 law that banished the Dakota people from Minnesota has been signed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R).
President
Abraham Lincoln signed the law in response to the Dakota
Conflict of 1862. He also ordered the hanging of 38 Dakota men on December 26, 1862.
