Court documents in the case of a politically connected lawyer who is accused of a drunken driving accident that killed a Pueblo man in New Mexico were released on Tuesday.

Carlos William Fierro, who has served as an attorney for members of Congress, admitted he was drinking at a bar in Santa Fe. But he claims he didn't know he struck and killed William Tenorio, 46, in the early morning hours of November 26. Instead, he thought someone at the bar threw a rock at his car

The accident occurred when Fierro, 36, returned to the bar to pick up a credit card he left behind. But the owner of WilLee's Blues Club said neither Fierro nor passenger Alfred Lovato, a state police sergeant and member of Gov. Bill Richardson's security detail, left their card there.

Police found a credit card that didn't belong to either man inside the car, raising the possibility that a third person was a passenger. The Albuquerque Journal tried to contact the owner of the card but was unsuccessful.

Tenorio was buried in San Felipe Pueblo on Thanksgiving. Fierro is charged with vehicular homicide.
