A record number of Indian delegates will attend the Democratic National
Convention in August.
Four superdelegates and about 150 delegates -- more than twice the number from the 2000 convention -- will represent American Indians and Alaska Natives. A record six tribal members will serve on DNC standing committees.
"It will be a memorable occasion and a red-letter day for native people from across the country," Frank LaMere, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, told The Denver Post.
The convention takes place 25-28, 2008, in Denver, Colorado.
