A group called the Tuscarora of North Carolina says the Lumbee Tribe doesn't deserve federal recognition.
The Tuscaroras say the Lumbees are stealing their heritage. But the Lumbees say the Tuscaroras are a splinter group within the Lumbee Tribe.
The Senate Indian Affairs
Committee last week approved a bill to recognize the tribe. It now awaits a final vote on the Senate floor. The House already passed the bill.
