An Alaska Native whom Gov. Sarah Palin (R) appointed to an important state board has been shifted to another post.
Craig Fleener, who is Athabascan, will resign from the Board of Game in order to serve as subsistence division of the Department of Fish and Game. The division conducts research that is used to set state policy on hunting and fishing.
Fleener was appointed to game board after Palin appointed a Native subsistence rights opponent. Native leaders complained about Palin's original choice.
Palin has not said whether she will appoint another Alaska Native to the state Board of Game.
