BIA officer shot on Standing Rock Reservation

A shooting incident on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation left a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer and another man injured.

The officer wasn't seriously wounded in the early Wednesday incident. The officer was sent to the reservation as part of a "surge" to reduce high crime rates.

"Operation Dakota Peacekeeper" has been deemed a success but the BIA has pulled officers away from Standing Rock in order to address another law enforcement crisis on the Pine Ridge Reservation.
