The trial of seven members of the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island who were arrested during a raid of the reservation is set to continue today.
The trial began last week, more than four year after the July 14, 2003, incident in which state troopers went to the reservation to shut down a smokeshop. Seven tribal members -- including Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas -- were charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors.
The jury visited the reservation last Thursday to see the site of the raid. They heard opening statements from the prosecution and the defense on Friday. Testimony also began on Friday.
The trial is expected to last a month.
