BIA modernization meeting in Washington DC

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is inviting tribal leaders to a meeting on its modernization initiative.

The meeting will take place January 30 in Washington, D.C. Assistant secretary Carl Artman said he hopes to have positive talks with tribal leaders.

"As we have stated since the start of this dialogue, the modernization effort must be Tribally driven to ensure that any revisions are directly responsive to tribal concerns," said Artman, a member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin. p>

The meeting takes place in the Horizon Room of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center at 1300 Pennsylvania Ave NW, from 9am to 5pm.
