DOJ consultation on Adam Walsh Act, other issues

The Department of Justice is holding a consultation and technical assistance session next week to discuss the Adam Walsh Child Protection Act. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Agency will also be present to discuss other justice, health and public safety issues.

The session takes place July 30-August 1 at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel in Phoenix, Arizona. Agenda topics include guidelines for the national sex offender registration and notification system, tribal detention facilities and metheampetamine.

The actual consultation is set for July 31. Officials from DOJ, BIA and SAMHSA will be on hand to meet with tribal leaders.
