The Penobscot Nation of Maine is closing its mail-order pharmacy.
The tribe opened PIN Rx in late 2005 as a partnership with the state. The pharmacy provided low-cost prescription drugs through the mail to state residents.
But it came under investigation for allegedly providing drugs over the Internet without valid prescriptions. A state report outlines numerous financial, management and other complaints against PIN Rx, its leadership and two pharmacists.
Chief Kirk Francis said he was disturbed the report. He said the business never provided any profits to the Indian Island community.
