The Penobscot Nation's mail-order pharmacy program is being investigated by the Maine Board of Pharmacy for its sale of drugs over the Internet. PIN Rx sold prescription drugs through websites without requiring a face-to-face visit with a physician, according to the state. The tribe was offered a settlement to pay a fine of $183,000 for nearly 200,000 questionable prescriptions. The tribe rejected the offer, an attorney said. It would have required an admission of wrongdoing. The tribe launched PIN Rx in November 2005. Gov. John Baldacci (D) backed the business, which came with $1 million in state funds.
