Choctaw chief speaks to tribal members in Texas

About 200 to 300 members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma attended a tribal meeting in Amarillo, Texas.

Chief Greg Pyle told attendees about the tribe's recent successes. The tribe has become more self-sufficient and employs 7,600 people, he said.

In the past, the tribe relied on the federal government for most of its programs. Now the tribe provides education, health care and other services, Pyle said.

The tribe has about 200,000 members and is the third largest in the U.S.
