The Tohono O'odham Nation of Arizona has elected a new leader.
Ned Norris Jr. defeated incumbent chairwoman Vivian Juan-Saunders. The vote was close, a tribal spokesperson said.
Norris served as vice chairman when Juan-Saunders was elected as the tribe's first female leader in 2003. He resigned his post in June 2006 and decided to challenge his former running mate.
