Bill encourages drilling on Fort Berthold Reservation

A bill in the North Dakota Legislature encourages more oil drilling on the Fort Berthold Reservation.

The bill allows state monitoring of oil wells on the reservation. It authorizes the state to negotiate an agreement to share up to 50 percent of tax revenues with the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation.

Marcus Wells Jr., the chairman of the tribe, suggested the bill, said Gov. John Hoeven (R).
